MATH 123 Calculus I for Management, Life, and Social Sciences

Prerequisite

Three years of high school mathematics including two years of algebra.

Course Description

This course is an introduction to the topics and techniques of calculus and is designed primarily for majors in business and the life and social sciences. It is a study of functions, limits, continuity, the derivative, and applications of the derivative. Business related applied topics include supply and demand functions, and marginal cost, revenue, and profit. Other applied topics include population trends, drug absorption rates, velocity, and acceleration. There is an emphasis on rates of change, curve sketching, and maximizing and minimizing functions.

Credit for both this course and MATH 133 is not permissible.
