PHAR 661 ER Medicine, Simulated Appro

Course Description

In this elective course, learners will be exposed to several aspects of pharmacy practice in an institutional setting with an emergency focus. This course will use a combination of classroom-based presentations and simulated patient experiences. Learners will gain an appreciation for pharmacy practice at the bedside of a simulated patient in an emergency department setting by using the high-fidelity simulation suite (HFS). Learners will exercise judgment in the care of patients, apply knowledge learned in the classroom, and develop teamwork skills. Learners will also gain experience in operational pharmacy practice using the simulated pharmacy through order entry in a pharmacy database, admixture compounding, checking the work of others, and delivery to the bedside.
