LAW 773 Business Accounting for Lawyers



Course Description

This course will introduce law students to accounting, giving them a basic understanding of financial statements, accounting mechanics, finance concepts and underlying accounting concepts and principles. The course is designed for students with little-to-no background in accounting. Emphasis will be on business financial decision-making and analysis, with additional consideration of professional governance and standard setting, recent accounting scandals, Sarbanes-Oxley, the significance of audit, and difference between the practice of law and of accounting (including ethical foundations) (formerly Accounting for Lawyers).
