Course Description

This course provides students with a working knowledge of fundamental legal priniciples concerning insurance policy and coverage issues. Legal issues regarding the regulation, and underwriting of insurance will be reviewed as well as claims handling, good and bad faith, and punitive damages. The course will also examine life, disability, property and casualty, automobile, health, and various professional liability insurance coverage issues. At the conclusion of this course the student should have a basic understanding of how insurance coverage in general is created, regulated, interpreted, applied, and enforced, as well as the application of basic principles to several different types of insurance coverage.
