LAW 645 Entertainment Law

Course Description

This course is designed as an introduction to the legal, business, creative, and ethical aspects of the practice of law in the firm, television and music industries, providing an overview of key areas such as contractual practices, personal and intellectual property rights, compensation, and creative control issues. While not a course on copyright or contracts, our focus will include an examination of the interaction between these disciplines and the arts, as well as an exploration of current topics such as grants of rights, duration of copyright, licensing, fair use, exclusivity, rights of privacy and publicity, and litigation. Prior completion of a course in Copyright Law is highly recommended but not mandatory.
