Course Description

This course focuses on the psychological sources of terrorism. It investigates social, economic, political, and religious systems of beliefs that have formed the basis of terrorist acts carried out by individuals and groups. Students learn the psycho-logic of terrorist behavior: how do terrorists think and which psychological mechanisms motivate and enable them to behave in ways that violate social norms and moral precepts.
