ENGL 329 Readings in 20th Century British Literature

Prerequisite

Two 100-level writing courses with a grade of "C" or better and junior standing, or permission of English chair.

Course Description

This course is a study of selected authors, writings, issues, and ideas that have been associated with British "modernism." The focus is on both texts and contexts, recognizing and including in the analysis the sociopolitical, philosophical, religious, and literary influences at play in the early 20th century. Students will read poetry, essays, and fiction by authors such as Wilde, Yeats, Joyce, Eliot, Woolf, and others. This course satisfies one of the Writing Intensive Course requirements for Arts and Sciences students.
